Going on a game drive in the African bush is one of the most rewarding experiences in life. And it's even better if you bring a decent camera and a good lens as your companions. If you weren't into photography before, you will be afterwards, trust me. The absolute best treat you can give yourself is going on a photo safari with an experienced photographer, like I did in October of 2010 with Colin Mead. If you live in Johannesburg, check out his stall at the Bryanston Organic Market on Thursday and Saturday mornings. The pictures I took on that trip to Madikwe still rank among my favorites, and I've taken a bazillion since then (hence the need for Christmas present number one, a new external hard drive!).
